A hanging planter that is functional but still sleek and modern was the goal in mind for designing Bobbin. We went with clay for the material because the matte finish would hit that contemporary vibe we were going for, and plants love a clay pot. We added a high gloss finish on the bottom, in a diagonal pattern, and were happy to see that doing so added a warmth to the look which makes it appealing to more than just the lover of minimalism. Bobbin works in a Cape Cod beach home just as easily, whether you go with a white on white or the charcoal black, the pale grey or the warm blue.
We wanted to make sure you didn’t have to think when you got home so it comes with everything you need to get it up and looking pretty: a metal O-Ring so you can hang it off a screw hook in your ceiling and waterproof rope so that you don’t have to worry about it getting wet and rotting and then falling from the skies.
While there is no drainage, a shallow layer of pebble in the bottom will ensure your plant gets the drainage it needs. Just picture your String of Pearls draping over the rim and down to the ground, gorgeous! If you don’t feel like planting it up, we love piling it with air plants and watching their tendrils drape down.
Added plus! If you're a lover of plants that are on the pet toxic list, you can now get them in your house and up and away from your furbabies.
- Material: Clay
- Dimensions: 5" diameter and 6" tall
- Finish: matte and glaze
- Cleaning: warm water, damp cloth
- Indoor pot and saucer
- 5” houseplant and tropical plant size
- Comes with metal o-ring and rope, fixture for ceiling not included
- Pairs well String of Dolphins, Spider Plant, Chenille Plant, Ferns
These are so pretty! However, the string that it is hung on will stain the unglazed ceramic if it gets wet. Also be careful to have the dirt level lower than that the hanging holes or dirt will come out the holes when watering and also stain the ceramic. If you are careful to keep the unglazed part clean they'll be great but they aren't the most carefree pots. Also figuring out how to tie the strings so the pot is level isn't particularly straightforward.
Bobbin 5" Hanging Planter
Instead of directly planting in here (not a fan of no drainage), I put a layer of expanded clay pebbles and placed a 4” pot of baby tears on top. That way I don’t have to worry about root rot and can take plant out and water as needed.
Very nice. Careful when watering plant as the water can seep out where the hanging rope comes thru the holes. Very clean and modern looking.
