BIRTH FLOWER COLLECTION
September Birth Flower - Aster
September's flower. It was there when it mattered.
Description
September birth flower ceramic gifts have the aster to work with — the late-summer bloom that arrives when most garden flowers have finished their opinions about the season and begun the process of winding down. Chive made a ceramic version in white. Kiln-fired by hand, 3 inches. The aster means star in Greek. The white ceramic version means September birthday and has no further symbolic agenda.
September birthday gift from a studio with a reason for this flower
The Birth Flower Collection was built in 2026 because the birth flower market was not offering anything worth giving. Victorian prints and plastic were the options. Chive made twelve ceramic alternatives and found this process entertaining. The white aster is the September flower: a star-shaped bloom in a glaze that works with any wall color and does not compete with the October marigold next to it if someone has a family with back-to-back birthdays. Ryan's girlfriend received a handmade rose from Ryan and called it her favorite gift because it was made rather than bought. The white ceramic aster was made for September birthdays specifically.
Chive Studio ceramic flowers are stocked in the gift shops of the Atlanta Botanical Garden, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Maritime Aquarium in Connecticut, and the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. Chive has exhibited at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for 13 consecutive years, receiving the 5-star booth award — the highest rating given. The Birth Flower Collection was designed in Toronto, made by hand since 1999. No command strips. No velcro. One screw and 90 seconds.
September birthday gift ideas that mean something specific
The white aster ships in a Chive gift box and arrives ready to hang with one screw in 90 seconds. It is the September birthday gift that acknowledges the month by name — aster, September, white, made by hand — rather than arriving as a seasonal approximation. Atlanta Botanical Garden stocks it. The wall it ends up on does not need to know this, but it is a better credential than the seasonal section of any gift shop.

How to Hang Ceramic Flowers?
One discovers these flowers, each bearing a secret: a tiny keyhole nestled in the back, waiting for its destiny. The ritual feels almost predetermined - reaching into that dusty jar of orphaned screws, the ones squirreled away over countless home projects. Those odd bits of metal, collected like precious coins, finally finding their purpose. A quick twist of the drill, and there hangs beauty, supported by hardware whose previous life remains a mystery.
