What flowers work best in a Pooley vase?
The Pooley is designed for shorter stems and single-stem or small grouping arrangements — garden cuttings, the last survivors of a bouquet, or a few stems from a market bunch. Flowers that work particularly well include ranunculus, sweet pea, freesia, gerber daisy, craspedia, kermit mums, calla lily, and any flower with a stem sturdy enough to stand on its own. Shorter stems are better — they hydrate more efficiently and last longer.
Does the Pooley need to be filled with water?
Yes — the Pooley holds water in each individual tube to keep live flower stems fresh. Fill the tubes before placing your flowers. For dried flowers or decorative use (pens, brushes, etc.), no water is needed. Change the water every two days to extend bloom life, and re-cut stems slightly if they begin to wilt.
Can I use the Pooley for something other than flowers?
Yes, and it's been used this way more often than we'd have predicted. The individual tubes make the Pooley a functional organiser for pens, pencils, makeup brushes, and small craft tools. It also looks excellent empty on a shelf in winter when garden cuttings aren't available — the colour and form give it visual presence without needing anything inside it.
How do I choose between Pooley colour combinations?
