Coastal Wall Decor — Ceramic Flowers in Ivory & Blue-White

Twenty-five handmade flowers. No anchors, no rope, no unironic starfish.

The Coastal Collection is Chive's neutral range of coastal wall decor: twenty-five handmade ceramic wall flowers glazed in ivory and blue-white. Each mounts flat on a single screw, needs no water or upkeep, and ships in gift-ready packaging. The palette suits coastal rooms — and every room that isn't.

Coastal Collection Minus the Nautical Clichés

Coastal wall decor usually means a choice between the palette and the props — the soft ivory-and-blue of a room near water, or the anchors, rope, and starfish that come bolted to it. The Coastal Collection keeps the palette and skips the props. Twenty-five ceramic wall flowers, each designed in the Toronto studio and shaped by hand and glazed in the range that coastal light actually produces: warm cream, chalk white, pale blue-grey.

Because the palette is this restrained, the collection is the most versatile range Chive makes. The flowers hold their own in a beach house, and they read as clean, considered objects in a city apartment that has never seen a seagull. They mix freely with every other Chive collection — the English Garden brights, the France blushes, the Japan darks — without arguing.

Each flower mounts flat against the wall on a single small screw, in about ninety seconds. There is nothing to water, dust rarely, replace never. Start with three. The wall will suggest the rest.

Coastal grandmother aesthetic

The coastal grandmother aesthetic is linen, cream, blue-white pottery, and the general air of someone who has lived well near water for a long time. The Coastal Collection is that sensibility translated to a wall: ivory and blue-white ceramic flowers with the softness of the style and none of its clichés. They hang above the slipcovered sofa, next to the stack of hardcovers, in the palette the whole aesthetic is built on. And unlike the garden the coastal grandmother tends, these require no watering — which she, of all people, would respect.

Coastal home decor

Coastal home decor works by palette and material, not by props: ivory, white, blue-grey, natural wood, and things that are genuinely well made. The Coastal Collection fits that definition exactly — handmade ceramic in the coastal range, with dimension and shadow a flat print can't offer. Group three above a console, run five down a hallway, or mix them with warmer Chive glazes for a room that references the coast without announcing it. The theme is optional. The palette works regardless.

The Coastal Collection is stocked at the Monterey Bay Aquarium — an institution close to the ocean and selective about what enters its gift shop — and at Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania. Chive Studio has exhibited at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for 13 consecutive years; twice awarded the 5-star booth award — only two are given each year.

Frequently asked questions about the Coastal Collection

How do you hang ceramic wall flowers?

With one small screw. Every Chive ceramic flower has a keyhole slot on the back: set the screw in the wall, slide the flower over it, and it sits flat. The screw and anchor are included, the whole job takes about ninety seconds, and moving a flower later means filling one very small hole. No drilling template, no contractor, no second attempt an inch to the left.

Can you hang ceramic flowers without damaging the wall?

Yes — the mount is one small screw per flower, the same commitment as hanging a small picture frame. Removing a flower leaves a single screw hole, filled with a dab of spackle in under a minute. Twenty-five flowers hung and removed cost the wall less than one shelf bracket. The flowers themselves never touch the paint; they hang from the keyhole slot on the back and sit flush.

What are good hostess gift ideas?

A Coastal ceramic wall flower — it arrives in gift-ready packaging, suits a home you have never seen, and outlasts every bottle of wine brought to the same dinner. Hostess gift ideas usually fail on one of two counts: too generic to mean anything, or too specific to survive the host's taste. Ivory and blue-white sidestep both. The flower goes up on one screw, and the host thinks of the dinner every time she passes it.

What is a good gift for a new mom?

A ceramic flower for the nursery wall — a gift for a new mom that requires absolutely nothing from her. No water, no vase, no care instructions; it hangs on one screw and stays beautiful through years she will otherwise not remember clearly. The Coastal ivory and blue-white palette suits any nursery scheme. It is also one of the few new-mom gifts that is for her, not for the baby.

Do ceramic flowers come in a gift box?

Yes — every Chive ceramic flower ships in its own gift-ready box with mounting hardware included, so it can go straight from the courier to the recipient without wrapping. The box protects the ceramic in transit to over 40 countries. If the gift is being sent directly, enter the recipient's address at checkout and it arrives ready to give.

What rooms does coastal wall decor work in?

All of them, which is the entire point of the palette. Ivory and blue-white coordinate with warm walls, cool walls, and the specific grey your landlord calls "greige." Bathrooms are fine — the glaze is kiln-fired and does not care about humidity. Bedrooms, hallways, the awkward wall behind the door that has defeated every previous decorating attempt: fine, fine, and finally resolved. The only room we would counsel against is one you are actively renovating, not because the flower minds, but because drywall dust is nobody's aesthetic. The coast is optional. The wall just needs a screw.

Can Coastal ceramic flowers mix with other Chive collections?

Yes — the ivory and blue-white palette was designed as the neutral thread through the whole Chive range. Coastal flowers calm a wall of English Garden brights, soften the France blushes, and give the Japan darks somewhere to land. Mixed walls work best anchored by one larger flower with smaller pieces stepping outward. Every collection shares the same one-screw mount, so a wall can evolve one flower at a time.

Is coastal wall art a trend or a durable choice?

Durable — ivory, white, and blue-white have been in continuous interior use far longer than the trend cycle that occasionally renames them. Coastal wall art in ceramic adds the more practical kind of durability: kiln-fired glaze that does not fade, chip, or yellow, on a mount that has nothing to loosen. Institutions reorder this collection based on what sells year after year, not what trended last season. The palette predates the hashtag and will outlast it.
