Chive Studio artisan sculpting a ceramic flower by hand attaching clay petals on a wood slab workbench — handmade without molds since 1999

Chive Studio has been designing and handmaking ceramic wall flowers in Toronto since 1999. Every flower in the France Collection is individually glazed in blush, peach, champagne, robin's egg blue, and teal — colors that were developed over twenty-five years of kiln work. No two glazes are identical. The champagne ranunculus on your wall will be slightly different from the one on the website. This has been noted in reviews as a feature rather than a defect, which Chive takes as a compliment.

Pink Rose ceramic wall flower — France Collection — handmade by Chive Studio Toronto

The France Collection works beautifully on its own and equally well alongside every other Chive collection. Blush and peach glazes sit next to English Garden ivories and creams without requiring a committee decision. For anyone who finds the France Collection and then cannot decide where to begin: the pre-selected curated sets contain arrangement decisions that have already been made. For everyone else, start with the Champagne Ranunculus. Most people return for more.

Frequently asked questions about the France Collection

What is french country decor and does the France Collection fit the style?

French country decor refers to an interior style built around soft organic colours, natural textures, and pieces that look like they belong rather than like they were purchased at the same time. The France Collection was designed for exactly this context. Blush pink, peach, robin's egg blue, teal, and champagne in ranunculas, peonies, and camellias. It fits French country interiors. It also fits rooms that are not French country but have space on a wall and a tolerance for something beautiful.

What colors are in the France Collection?

Blush pink, peach, coral pink, robin's egg blue, sky blue, teal, periwinkle, champagne, soft ivory, dusty rose, and soft green across 39 designs. The palette was developed as a coordinated system, which means any combination of France Collection flowers works together without a colour consultation. The Robin's Egg Blue Keiko Peony, the Blush Pink Elegance Ranunculus, and the Teal Camellia are the most frequently purchased designs in the range.

How do the France Collection flowers mount on a wall?

Each France Collection ceramic flower has a keyhole fitting on the back. One small screw in the wall. The flower hangs on the screw. Total time from opening the box to stepping back and looking at the wall: approximately 90 seconds. The screw and wall anchor are included in every order. No tools required beyond a screwdriver. The flowers do not shift, tilt, or require re-levelling after hanging. If you move them, you remove one screw and fill a small hole.

Can France Collection flowers be mixed with other Chive collections?

Yes. The France Collection palette was developed to work alongside the English Garden collection and the Coastal collection in particular. The blush and ivory tones have enough shared ancestry with English Garden cream and Coastal blue-white to sit on the same wall without argument. All 150+ Chive designs are part of a coordinated colour system developed over twenty-five years. Any combination from any collection works together. This is not a marketing claim. It is the result of two and a half decades of colour development.

Is the France Collection a good gift for a sister?

It is a very good gift for a sister, and for reasons beyond the palette. The gift-ready box presents well without additional wrapping. The flowers go on a wall and stay there -- they do not require a specific window, a specific pot, or remembering to do something on a schedule. They are handmade by a studio whose work is in the SFMOMA gift shop and the Getty Museum. A blush pink ranunculus in a gift box from a studio that has been making them since 1999 is a considered gift. The recipient will know this.

What flower types are in the France Collection?

Ranunculas, peonies, anemones, dahlias, camellias, chrysanthemums, roses, cornflowers, clematis, hellebores, magnolias, and sunflowers across 39 designs. The ranunculas and peonies are the most popular flower types in the collection, followed closely by the camellias. The France Collection has a higher proportion of rounded, full-bloom flower types than the other collections, which is part of what gives it the soft, abundant quality associated with French country style.

Does the France Collection ship internationally?

The France Collection ships to over 40 countries from warehouses in Toronto, New York, and Rotterdam. Most North American orders arrive within 5 to 10 business days. European orders ship from the Rotterdam warehouse and typically arrive within 7 to 14 business days. Every order ships in the same gift-ready box that presents well without additional wrapping. The France Collection has been shipped to France. This has been noted.

What would you suggest for someone who has never bought french country decor before and does not want to get it wrong?

Start with the Robin's Egg Blue Keiko Peony or the Blush Pink Elegance Ranunculus. Both are 4-inch designs that work on almost any wall colour without committing to a full palette decision. One flower tells you whether you like the scale before you add more. Most people add more. The France Collection was designed so that each flower functions as a standalone piece and as part of a larger arrangement. You cannot get it wrong. There is no version of a handmade ceramic peony on a wall that was a mistake.
