Description

There I was, standing in the middle of the living room, staring at the blank wall above the couch like it was a cryptic crossword puzzle that needed solving. ""What to hang above a couch?"" I wondered aloud, as if the universe might whisper back a clever suggestion.

My eyes drifted to the window, where a lone ceramic flower sat on the sill, basking in the afternoon sun. It was a delicate little thing, no bigger than my palm, its ivory petals unfurling like a daffodil greeting the spring. A smile crept across my face as the solution became clear.

I scoured the local art markets, scooping up every ceramic flower I could find – a veritable garden of wall art decor. Some were vibrant and bold, others demure and understated, but each one held a charm all its own.

With a hammer and nails in hand, I went to work, carefully mounting each flower along the wall above the couch, creating a whimsical, modern artwork that defied traditional conventions. A cluster of keyhole hangers allowed me to arrange and rearrange the pieces with ease, like a living, ever-changing installation.

As the final ceramic bloom found its place, I stepped back to admire my handiwork. The once-bare wall had been transformed into a vibrant, three-dimensional canvas, bursting with life and color. Each flower seemed to dance in its own unique way, casting delicate shadows that shifted with the changing light.

I couldn't help but smile, imagining the looks of delight and curiosity that would grace the faces of my guests as they encountered this unexpected wall-mounted garden. It was a celebration of creativity, a reminder that beauty can be found in the most unexpected places – even in a humble ceramic flower.

How to Hang Ceramic Flowers?

In 60 seconds or less

One discovers these flowers, each bearing a secret: a tiny keyhole nestled in the back, waiting for its destiny. The ritual feels almost predetermined - reaching into that dusty jar of orphaned screws, the ones squirreled away over countless home projects. Those odd bits of metal, collected like precious coins, finally finding their purpose. A quick twist of the drill, and there hangs beauty, supported by hardware whose previous life remains a mystery.

Frequently asked questions

What is good spring wall art that works all year?

Spring wall art that works all year is made of a material that does not require seasonal rotation. The Ivory Daffodil is kiln-fired ceramic — the ivory glaze reads as spring without being seasonal. The McKee Botanical Garden in Florida carries it year-round. Florida does not have a spring the way Toronto does, and the McKee carries a ceramic spring daffodil because they understand the botanical reference persists regardless of the calendar.

Does ivory white wall art work in a bedroom?

Ivory in a bedroom reads as the warmth that prevents white from feeling clinical. The cup-and-trumpet daffodil form adds architectural interest — the trumpet projects forward from the wall, creating three-dimensional presence that flat white art cannot achieve. The McKee Botanical Garden carries the collection. People who go home from botanical gardens to bedrooms they care about have been making consistent purchasing decisions about ivory botanical wall art.

What is the March birth flower?

The daffodil is the birth flower for March. The Ivory Daffodil is a ceramic March birth flower gift from a studio stocked in the McKee Botanical Garden. Fresh daffodils last approximately one week as a March birthday gift. The ceramic version will be on the wall in the same condition next March, and the March after that, and every March until the person who received it decides to redecorate.

How does the ivory daffodil differ from the yellow daffodil in the collection?

The Ivory Daffodil and the Buttercup Yellow Daffodil are the same cup-and-trumpet form in two different glazes. The ivory reads as the classic daffodil color — cream, the way daffodils appear when the yellow has been quieted. The buttercup yellow reads as warmer and more present. The ivory is for rooms that want botanical presence without warmth. The yellow is for rooms that want warmth with botanical presence. Both hang with one screw. The McKee Botanical Garden carries the collection.

Can the ivory daffodil work in a bathroom?

The Ivory Daffodil works in a bathroom because kiln-fired ceramic is unaffected by humidity. The ivory glaze responds well to bathroom light conditions — warm near mirrors, cool from overhead. The cup-and-trumpet form adds three-dimensional presence that framed prints cannot provide. The McKee Botanical Garden carries the collection.

Is a daffodil associated with any occasion beyond spring and March birthdays?

The daffodil is associated with new beginnings, rebirth, and the end of winter in most traditions that have been growing them since the 16th century. As a gift it is appropriate for March birthdays, spring occasions, new home gifts, and the beginning of any significant chapter. The ivory version is for occasions that call for warmth and a fresh start without the announcement quality that bright yellow carries.

Does the daffodil hang correctly given the trumpet projection?

The Ivory Daffodil hangs with the standard Chive keyhole mount — one screw, 90 seconds. The trumpet projection is part of the ceramic body rather than an attachment, so it is structurally integrated and does not affect hanging stability. The cup faces forward and the trumpet projects toward the viewer, which is the correct orientation for a wall-mounted daffodil. The McKee Botanical Garden carries it.

Has the Ivory Daffodil ever been confused with the alpine plants in the Chelsea packing crates?

The Ivory Daffodil is ceramic and was packed in a designated container in the Chelsea booth materials. The rare alpine plants that have been accidentally transported home were living plants that embedded themselves in display soil or booth materials and were not in designated containers. The distinction between a ceramic daffodil in a box marked Chive Studio and a rare alpine saxifrage tucked into a display arrangement is clear enough that the two have not been confused at any point in the journey from London to Toronto. The daffodil arrived home correctly.
