Todd Newgren
Ceramic Artist & Studio Founder | Chive
Todd Newgren founded Chive Studio in Toronto in 1999 and has been designing and handmaking ceramic flowers, plant pots, and vases every year since, which he considers a reasonable use of twenty-five years. Chive's ceramic flowers are stocked in the Getty Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, SFMOMA, and 200+ galleries and botanical institutions worldwide — a list Todd finds gratifying and occasionally surprising.
Once a year, Chive exhibits at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, which is the only time you can reliably find Todd in person, slightly damp, and unusually well-informed about the current state of the British tabloids. Chive has received the 5-star booth award — the highest rating given — for thirteen consecutive years. Todd believes this reflects the quality of the work. The rain was not a factor.
