About Chive Studio

Some designs were proposed early and shelved — not rejected, just set aside until the catalog grew large enough to give them context. The broccoli was one of those. It appeared in a sketch folder dated 2006, two years after the studio opened in 2004, and sat there while the painters built the core food collection around flashier subjects. When it finally entered production, the technique had advanced enough to render each floret individually rather than suggesting the shape with a single green wash.
