Build Your Effortless Ambiance With These:

Choose a candle as your anchor, then round out the shelf with these for that thrown-together-but-somehow-perfect look.

A coconut candle that leads with ocean and pineapple before revealing the actual coconut tucked into the heart alongside bamboo and moss — a layered tropical opening rather than the flat, somewhat monotone sweetness most coconut candles deliver straight out of the box. Casanova uses the coconut in the wax as part of the scent architecture — the blend throws a subtle, naturally sweet undertone that reinforces the fragrance coconut without doubling it into sunscreen territory. The middle stays green and aquatic while musk, amber, and cashmere dry it down into something warm enough for an evening well past the beach-adjacent opening. Two wicks spread heat to the vessel walls within forty minutes for a complete melt pool, the soy was sourced from a single farm stateside, and the vessel handles sixty-plus hours of heat without showing wear at the base. Every component is vegan and hand-poured with care, paraffin-free at every stage of formulation and production.

Candle Care Instructions

Candle Care (Because You’re Basically an Adult Now)

  • Trim your wicks to ¼" before lighting. Unless you enjoy mushroom tops—no judgment.
  • Let it burn edge to edge the first time (3 hours minimum). This isn’t a speed date.
  • Keep those wicks centered and upright—like your standards.
  • Limit burn time to 4 hours per session. Even candles need a rest day.
  • When you’re down to ¼" of wax, it’s time to part ways. Try not to cry.

Bonus Round: Recycle & Reuse

Packaging? Fully recyclable.

That gorgeous glass jar? Don’t toss it. Give it a second life as a plant pot, makeup brush holder, or home for random paperclips. Because sustainability looks good on you.

The Scent Journey

Light Casanova and the salt hits first — ocean-forward, clean, the kind of air that makes you forget you have a desk job. Pineapple and coconut show up next and suddenly your brain decides you're on vacation. Your responsibilities can wait. Bamboo and a green floral layer build behind that, adding enough tropical depth to convince you you're cooler than you are. Sea moss pulls it back toward something coastal and polished — not the boardwalk beach, the one with the chairs that cost money. Musk, amber, and cashmere settle in at the base, warm and expensive-smelling, the scent equivalent of knowing someone with a boat. By the time it's fully going you're Casanova's cousin at minimum, which lasts exactly as long as the candle does. Then reality. But for now, you go places."

Soy wax, because we're not monsters

Vegan, clean-burning, and zero guilt. Your walls won't turn black, your lungs won't protest, and somewhere a soybean farmer is smiling.

Double cotton wicks

Two is better than one, like kidneys or chances at love. These babies throw scent like passive-aggressive comments at Thanksgiving dinner: thoroughly and effectively throughout the entire room.

The 15-minute rule

Good candles need foreplay. After a quarter hour, all those scent molecules start mingling like guests at an awkward party who finally found the wine. This is when the magic happens. Cheap candles? They peak immediately and disappoint forever.

When the Wax Is Also the Scent

The coconut note in Casanova arrives from two directions at once — the fragrance oil introduces coconut as a top note, and the coconut wax in the blend adds its own faint, naturally sweet undertone as it melts. Most coconut candles rely entirely on fragrance to deliver the scent, which means the coconut disappears if the oil load is even slightly low. Here the wax itself backstops the fragrance compound, which gives the coconut a depth that straight soy candles with coconut fragrance cannot match. Pineapple and ocean lift the opening past tropical cliché because the green and saline notes cut the sweetness before it accumulates. Bamboo in the middle does the same work from a different angle, introducing a fibrous, grassy coolness that keeps the whole profile from collapsing into dessert territory. The cashmere-amber-musk base reads warm without the cloying finish that ruins so many coconut candles by the third hour. Pour temperature plays a role here too — this wax blend sets at a lower temperature than straight soy, which traps volatile top notes closer to the surface and releases them earlier in the burn. That is why the ocean and pineapple hit within the first five minutes instead of waiting for the melt pool to deepen.

The Philosophy of No Waste

(Or: How We Convinced Ourselves We're Saving the Planet)

✔ All our soybeans are grown right here, probably judging us from their stalks

✔ They travel a grueling half-mile journey to become wax (the carbon footprint of a hummingbird)

✔ Each candle is hand-poured into containers we're absolutely certain you'll repurpose for cocktails (we're optimists)

✔ It's farm-to-table, except it's farm-to-flame, which sounds more dangerous but isn't

✔ 100% vegan, biodegradable, and clean-burning—because apparently that needs to be said now

Modern Fling Candles - GIRLFRIEND Collection - Chive Ceramics Studio - Chive Ceramics Studio

Dream Boat Neroli Candle

Dream Boat pours from identical wax in the same vessel but replaces the tropical coconut-ocean arc with a citrus-floral profile led by neroli and sandalwood — brighter, less aquatic, aimed at mornings over evenings. Try one in each room and see how differently the same blend carries two opposing fragrance families.

The Modern Fling Collection

The Modern Fling collection includes twenty-four scents poured from the same coconut-soy wax, each with a different fragrance architecture. If Casanova's tropical profile is the right mood, the collection page shows which other scents sit nearby in the lineup — and which ones go in the opposite direction entirely.

Ceramic Flower Wall Art – Green Lotus

A candle with a green, aquatic profile looks at home near something organic on the wall, and the Ceramic Flower Wall Art — Green Lotus brings that in a single mounted piece that reads botanical without needing water or light. Set Casanova below it on a console table and the coconut throw does the rest of the atmosphere work.

Coconut and Kiln Dust, Finally Together

Chive Studio started in 2004 making ceramic flowers, not candles, but the instinct that a material should justify its presence carried right through to wax selection twenty years later. Casanova was prototyped the same season we returned to Chelsea Flower Show with a ceramic collection — the studio smelled like coconut and kiln dust for a month, which was an improvement on kiln dust alone.

Frequently asked questions

What does a coconut scented soy candle smell like?

A coconut soy candle smells warmer and less synthetic than the coconut in sunscreen — more like cracking an actual shell than spraying a beach product. Casanova opens with ocean and pineapple so the coconut arrives with company rather than alone, then bamboo and moss keep the middle green. My friend called it 'a vacation that eventually puts on a sweater,' which is the cashmere base talking.

Is Casanova a good coconut candle for the bedroom?

The cashmere and musk in the base make it warm enough for a bedroom, though the ocean opening gives it more range than a typical bedroom candle. I kept one on the dresser for two weeks and the cold throw between burns was noticeable every time I opened the closet door. The aquatic notes fade overnight and the coconut lingers, which lands exactly right for a room you wake up in.

How many hours does the Casanova double wick candle burn?

Sixty hours conservatively, closer to sixty-five if wick trimming and session length are consistent. My colleague ran a log on his and recorded sixty-four, though he admitted forgetting the timer once and going five hours straight — a practice I am officially declining to recommend. Trim to a quarter inch each time and the wax lasts well beyond what a same-size paraffin jar would deliver.

Is this coconut soy candle clean burning and non toxic?

The wax is plant-only, the wicks are cotton without any lead core, and the formula excludes both paraffin and phthalates entirely. Soot from paraffin candles is petroleum residue — a problem that does not exist when the base is coconut and soy. My sister held a white plate over her paraffin candle and then over this one; the paraffin printed a grey ring in under a minute and Casanova left nothing at all. She now demonstrates this at gatherings, to mixed social results.

What room size does the Casanova eight ounce candle fill?

A room up to about two hundred and fifty square feet fills well with both wicks lit. The coconut and ocean notes carry surprisingly far because they are lighter molecules that disperse quickly — heavier base notes like cashmere and musk saturate a smaller radius. I burned one in a three-hundred-square-foot living room and the coconut was detectable near the windows, though the cashmere stayed closer to the candle.

Is the Casanova candle a good gift for someone who loves coconut?

It is a particularly good choice because the coconut is layered under ocean, pineapple, and bamboo rather than standing isolated, so a coconut lover gets the note they already enjoy wrapped in a profile more complex than a single-note candle delivers. I brought one to my brother who puts coconut oil on everything — literally everything — and he finished it to the bottom, which he has never done with any candle before.

Can I reuse the glass container after the Casanova candle burns down?

Yes — freeze it overnight, pop the leftover wax, rinse with warm water. The glass is heavy and clear, serviceable as a small terrarium base for a single air plant, a cocktail-garnish holder, or a spice jar for the kitchen. A colleague turned his into a propagation station for a pothos cutting, which felt extremely on-brand for someone who works at a plant company.

Where is the Casanova soy candle made and is it vegan?

Domestic at every step — soy from one American farm, pressed and refined there, coconut wax blended in, fragrance loaded at the same location, poured into the vessel without crossing a border. Cotton wicks, zero animal-derived materials, and oils that are part synthetic, part botanical. The full supply chain fits on a standard shipping label, which is how we know nothing is hiding.
