Build Your Floral Wall With These:

Designed to cluster naturally, like a wild garden. Choose a flower as your design anchor, then grow your custom floral wall with these companions:

Anemone flower meaning tends to center on protection and anticipation, themes that suit a flower whose petals only open in full light and close again once it fades. The Ceramic Flower Anemone 4 carries that same watchful quality without ever needing the light, the water, or the season an actual anemone depends on to open at all. Studio records show this piece was finished without a color ever logged against it, whether from an open order or a simple gap nobody caught in time. Either way, it shipped exactly as it was made, and no one has gone back to assign it one since. Artisans shape these pieces by hand at Chive Ceramics Studio, holding the anemone's layered petal structure without the fragility of the real bloom. It never wilts, closes, or drops a petal, regardless of how much light the room gets. Chihuly Garden and Glass has carried this collection in its shop for years, alongside other pieces built around what a single, sustained bloom can do.

How to hang & display

Wall hanging

Works on drywall, plaster, or wood panelling. Drive a small screw at a slight upward angle, leaving the head proud of the wall. Slide the keyhole slot on the back over the screw head, adjust to level. Sits flush — no visible hardware.

No stud? No problem. A drywall anchor rated for the weight works fine.

Displaying a collection

Lay everything out on the floor first. Start with your anchor piece, build outward. Keep 2–3 inches between each piece and aim for the centre of the whole arrangement to land around eye level. Use painter's tape on the wall to map positions before committing to any screws.

Table & shelf display: Equally beautiful propped on a shelf, mantle, or side table. Pair with books, candles, or a small pot.

An Anemone That Skipped the Drama

Here's the honest version: this anemone shipped without a color ever logged against it, and nobody currently on staff can tell you exactly why. It's either an open order that went out before a client finalized their shade, or a gap in the paperwork nobody caught before the piece left, and at this point both explanations are equally plausible and equally undocumented. What we do know is that anemones open only in full light and close again as they fade, a strange thing to build a permanent object around, since permanence is the one thing an actual anemone can't offer. This piece keeps that same watchful, layered petal structure without ever needing the light or the season the real flower depends on to open at all. It just holds its shape, indefinitely, unbothered by whatever mystery surrounds its own paperwork. I've made my peace with not knowing. The piece clearly has. I've gone back through old order sheets once or twice looking for a clue, and come up with nothing but a blank field where a color should be. At this point I find it a little charming, the way an old family story is charming precisely because nobody can confirm the details anymore. It ships exactly the same regardless — carefully packed, fully finished, unconcerned with its own backstory.

Part of the Classic Collection

The Classic collection never bothered chasing whatever trend was passing through — a rose that looked correct in 1974 and will look correct in 2074, glazed in colors that refuse to change. Every piece trades novelty for something worth keeping. This anemone shipped without a color ever logged against it, a small mystery nobody on staff has fully solved.

Two Ways to Display

Every Chive ceramic flower works two ways: mounted vertically as a growing gallery wall, or laid flat as a no-water tablescape. An Anemone 4 carries its layered, watchful petal structure well in either setting, since the shape itself does most of the visual work on its own. Up on its own, the layered petals draw the eye immediately. Placed near a few smaller objects instead, it settles in without competing for attention. Shop the full Classic Collection.

Complete the Look

A Ceramic Flower Anemone 4 sits naturally beside a real plant without asking for any of the same upkeep. The Large Dyad Porcelain Pot and Saucer, White, gives that plant a clean, considered home close by, catching runoff before it reaches the furniture underneath. Only one half of the pairing ever needs a watering can, a sunny window, or a second thought.

A Quieter Shape Than the Rest

Not every piece in this studio's history comes with a perfectly documented origin story. Documented or not, each one still leaves the building shaped by hand at Chive Ceramics Studio since 2004, and records get incomplete now and then, orders get finalized without every field filled in, and occasionally a piece ships carrying a small mystery nobody has gone back to solve. The studio treats that as a minor curiosity rather than a problem worth chasing down two decades later. What matters more is that every piece, documented or not, gets the same hand-shaping and the same testing before it leaves the building. Some stories just stay a little open-ended, and that's fine. Two decades of records are bound to have a few small gaps like this one, and the studio has decided that's a reasonable cost of doing business.

Frequently asked questions

How does a Ceramic Flower Anemone 4 hang on the wall?

A Ceramic Flower Anemone 4 hangs on the wall using a single keyhole cutout on the back, so it mounts flush with a nail or screw already there. No wire, no separate bracket to source. It's up in about the time it takes to pick a spot and level it by eye. Nothing else is involved.

Does a Anemone work as anemone flower meaning?

A Ceramic Flower Anemone 4 works well as anemone flower meaning, since real anemones symbolize protection and anticipation, opening only in full light. This piece keeps that same watchful quality without ever needing the light it depends on. It holds its layered petal shape indefinitely, regardless of the room. The symbolism stays; the upkeep doesn't.

Is a Anemone a good gift for art lover?

A Ceramic Flower Anemone 4 makes a genuinely good gift for an art lover, partly because its own color was never fully logged in the studio's records. Nobody currently on staff can explain exactly why. It shipped exactly as finished anyway, carefully made despite the mystery. That kind of history tends to appeal here.

Does a Anemone 4 work as classic home decor?

A Ceramic Flower Anemone 4 works as classic home decor because its layered shape and quiet color were built to outlast passing trends entirely, season after season, year after year. Nothing about it needs refreshing as styles shift around it. It just holds its form, indefinitely. That's the whole appeal.

Does a Ceramic Flower Anemone 4 ship in a gift box?

Yes, a Ceramic Flower Anemone 4 ships in a branded gift box, ready to hand over without any wrapping paper required beforehand at all, no exceptions. Nothing inside needs assembling once it's unboxed. The packaging is sturdy enough to survive a rough delivery truck. Just open it and hang it.

What is a meaningful anemone gift for an art lover?

A meaningful anemone gift for an art lover should lean into the flower's own symbolism rather than just its shape. The Anemone 4 carries that protective, watchful meaning permanently, without needing light or season to open. It just holds its layered form on a wall. That permanence is the actual gift.

How long does a anemone 4 last versus a fresh one?

A Ceramic Flower Anemone 4 lasts indefinitely, well past the point a fresh anemone would have closed for good and dropped its petals. There's no light schedule to manage, no fading bloom to notice by the weekend. It holds its exact shape for as long as it's owned. A fresh anemone simply can't do that.

Is a Anemone 4 truly worth buying, not just decent?

A Ceramic Flower Anemone 4 is truly worth buying, not just decent, precisely because of the small mystery still attached to it — a color that was never logged, on a piece that shipped anyway. That's a stranger origin story than most decorative objects get. It holds its shape regardless of its own unresolved paperwork. Some flaws age into character.
