Build Your Floral Wall With These:

Designed to cluster naturally, like a wild garden. Choose a flower as your design anchor, then grow your custom floral wall with these companions:

Farmhouse wall decor tends to lean on reclaimed wood and mason jars, but a Burnt Orange Poppy earns its place in that world honestly — warm, worn-in color, glazed ceramic, nothing that needs a trend cycle to feel right. The poppy has a strange reputation for being the flower that put an entire cast to sleep in a field outside a fictional city, which is a lot of narrative weight for something that also, less dramatically, produces the seeds on an everyday bagel. Burnt orange settles that reputation into something calmer, closer to a color a real farmhouse might actually contain. It mounts with a single screw, holds its shade indefinitely, and never needs deadheading or a vase change. New York Botanical Garden has cultivated poppies in a dozen shades without ever needing sleep-inducing folklore to justify the interest. Chive Ceramics Studio has been shaping pieces like this by hand since 2004, farmhouse-ready and permanently in bloom.

How to hang & display

Wall hanging

Works on drywall, plaster, or wood panelling. Drive a small screw at a slight upward angle, leaving the head proud of the wall. Slide the keyhole slot on the back over the screw head, adjust to level. Sits flush — no visible hardware.

No stud? No problem. A drywall anchor rated for the weight works fine.

Displaying a collection

Lay everything out on the floor first. Start with your anchor piece, build outward. Keep 2–3 inches between each piece and aim for the centre of the whole arrangement to land around eye level. Use painter's tape on the wall to map positions before committing to any screws.

Table & shelf display: Equally beautiful propped on a shelf, mantle, or side table. Pair with books, candles, or a small pot.

No Cinematic Backstory Required

Poppy seeds come from poppies. I know that sounds like something I made up on the spot to sound informed, but I looked it up and I'm as surprised as anyone. The same flower responsible for putting an entire cast to sleep in a fictional field is also, less dramatically, sitting on top of your everything bagel most mornings without any fanfare or narrative arc at all. Burnt Orange has apparently known this the whole time and has simply been waiting, patiently, for the rest of us to catch up. There's a strange dignity in a flower that can be both a plot device and a breakfast topping without ever addressing the contradiction directly. Ceramic keeps the visual drama — that deep, sun-worn orange, those papery petals holding a shape no fresh poppy ever manages to keep once real weather gets involved — without any of the narrative baggage or the seed production. One screw through the keyhole fitting is the whole installation, no soil, no deadheading, no explaining to a houseguest why there's a poppy on the wall instead of a normal painting. Farmhouse rooms have always needed something warm and slightly worn-in rather than pristine, and this fills that role without a single trip to a flea market required. The bagels remain, as always, completely unrelated.

One screw. One keyhole on the back. Ninety seconds and it's on the wall. The video shows exactly how it happens — no special hardware, no second holes, no contractor on speed dial. Whether you're hanging one piece or planning a full gallery wall, the hanging guide walks you through both.

Part of the France Collection

The France collection inherited its manners from countryside kitchens that never apologized for a chipped teacup or a crooked shutter — faded rose, sun-bleached poppy, a peony that's seen a few decades. Every piece trades polish for something already lived-in. The poppy has a reputation problem it's never quite shaken, thanks to one very famous field and a very long nap. A gentler piece skips the cinematic backstory entirely.

Two Ways to Display

Every Chive ceramic flower works two ways: mounted vertically as a growing gallery wall, or laid flat as a no-water tablescape. The sun-warmed glaze on this carnation shifts subtly depending on which direction light enters the room, a detail no photograph fully captures. Laid flat on a table, that same shifting color becomes the surface's quiet anchor rather than a static object sitting there. It never wilts by whatever date it was actually bought for.

Complete the Look

Farmhouse rooms tend to layer texture rather than rely on one statement piece, which is where the Funky Monkey Planter comes in. Placed near the mounted poppy, it adds a bit of unexpected personality without pulling focus away. The planter needs regular watering and light; the poppy needs neither, ever. The two look intentional together in a way neither quite manages alone.

A Poppy Without the Baggage

Chive Ceramics Studio has been building flowers meant to outlast their living counterparts since 2004, and Burnt Orange Poppy is a fairly literal example of that mission. The real poppy barely survives being cut, let alone displayed for more than a day or two, but the color and papery texture are worth keeping around regardless. We study each flower's actual structure before glazing anything, matching the specific warmth of a burnt orange against real reference material rather than a generic orange chip. Two decades of doing this has taught us which shades hold their warmth under different lighting and which fade to something flatter. The goal has never changed: take what's genuinely worth keeping about a flower and leave out everything that made it temporary in the first place.

Frequently asked questions

How does a Burnt Orange Poppy hang on the wall?

A Burnt Orange Poppy mounts with a single screw through the keyhole fitting built into the ceramic back, no wire or anchor needed. The process takes about ninety seconds from box to wall, start to finish, with nothing left to adjust. It hangs flush and stays level indefinitely, unlike a fresh poppy in any wind.

What makes a ceramic poppy better than a framed print?

A ceramic poppy adds texture and dimension a flat framed print can't offer, since the papery petal layers cast real shadow depending on the light in the room throughout the day. It mounts the same way a print would, with a single screw and no wire. There's no glass to crack in shipping or reflect glare.

Is a Burnt Orange Poppy a good ruby anniversary gift?

Yes — a Burnt Orange Poppy works as a ruby anniversary gift since the warm, deep orange reads close enough to ruby tones without needing an actual gemstone. It mounts permanently on a wall, unlike a bouquet that fades within a week. Forty years deserves something that keeps its color exactly as intended, indefinitely.

What is a ruby anniversary gift that lasts longer than the celebration?

A ruby anniversary gift that lasts longer than the celebration itself needs to skip anything living or edible entirely. A Burnt Orange Poppy mounts to a wall and holds its warm color permanently, with zero maintenance required after the initial ninety-second install. It's a gift the couple sees daily rather than one used up on the night itself.

What ships inside the box with a Burnt Orange Poppy order?

A Burnt Orange Poppy comes packaged with just the flower, a single mounting screw, and a small instruction card explaining the keyhole fitting. There's no separate manual or extra parts bag to sort through first. The box is built to handle shipping without any petal damage. Open it, mount it, done.

Does a Burnt Orange Poppy work as maximalist living room decor?

Yes — a Burnt Orange Poppy fits a maximalist living room well, since the deep, warm color and papery texture hold their own against a busy wall of art, pattern, and texture already competing for attention there. It doesn't need to be the quiet piece in the room at all. It pairs easily with other Chive flowers.

How long does a ceramic poppy last compared to a fresh poppy?

A fresh poppy rarely survives being cut at all, dropping petals within hours in even mild wind or handling. A ceramic poppy doesn't have that problem — the shape and color stay exactly as glazed, indefinitely, with zero risk of shattering in a breeze. There's no vase, no water, no fragile stem to protect.

Is a ceramic poppy a good gift for a poppy gardener?

Yes — a ceramic poppy makes a fitting gift for a poppy gardener who already knows how briefly the real bloom lasts once cut. The Burnt Orange Poppy captures the papery texture and deep color permanently, without the wind damage or short vase life. It's a tribute to the flower that never actually wilts.
