Green, Sized to XL

The green in this piece is the result of what can only honestly be described as attrition, not inspiration. Green is a genuinely difficult color to get right in a glaze: tip it one degree toward yellow and it starts reading like a traffic cone, tip it toward blue and it drifts into something better suited to an aquarium tank than a living room wall. This particular shade went through so many rounds of adjustment that at a certain point people in the studio simply stopped offering opinions and started nodding along, which turns out to be the actual, unglamorous signal that a color has finally arrived. It's now the green the studio holds every other green up against, not because it was the most exciting result but because it was the one that stopped generating arguments. Scaled up to XL, the shape stopped needing an actual species name to justify its presence, which is either confidence or a shrug dressed up as a design decision. The lettuce leaf itself has never once tried to be dramatic about any of this.
