Build Your Floral Wall With These:

Designed to cluster naturally, like a wild garden. Choose a flower as your design anchor, then grow your custom floral wall with these companions:

A gift for an interior designer has to clear a genuinely high bar, and this teal flower exists because the color itself cleared that bar before the shape even mattered. The studio mixed a teal so precise that someone stopped mid-sentence when they saw it come out of the kiln, and there wasn't enough of that dye left over to test on anything beyond one single, medium-sized flower. That flower now holds the singular, slightly tragic honor of being the entire Teal department on its own, with no "Large" or "Small" sibling to keep it company. The color itself shifts across the day, moving from a cooler blue-green in morning light to a deeper jade by evening. This one, like every piece Chive makes, was shaped entirely by hand rather than cast from a repeatable mold. The Art Institute of Chicago has long featured decorative work chosen for exactly that unrepeatable quality. The studio keeps meaning to mix more of this teal. It has not happened yet.

How to hang & display

Wall hanging

Works on drywall, plaster, or wood panelling. Drive a small screw at a slight upward angle, leaving the head proud of the wall. Slide the keyhole slot on the back over the screw head, adjust to level. Sits flush — no visible hardware.

No stud? No problem. A drywall anchor rated for the weight works fine.

Displaying a collection

Lay everything out on the floor first. Start with your anchor piece, build outward. Keep 2–3 inches between each piece and aim for the centre of the whole arrangement to land around eye level. Use painter's tape on the wall to map positions before committing to any screws.

Table & shelf display: Equally beautiful propped on a shelf, mantle, or side table. Pair with books, candles, or a small pot.

Teal at Its Most Restrained

A gift for an interior designer has to clear a genuinely high bar, and this teal flower exists because the color itself cleared that bar before the shape even mattered to anyone in the room. The studio mixed a teal so precise that someone reportedly stopped mid-sentence when they saw it come out of the kiln for the first time, and there wasn't enough of that exact dye left over afterward to test on anything beyond one single, medium-sized flower. That flower now holds the singular, slightly tragic honor of being the entire Teal department on its own, with no "Large" or "Small" sibling to keep it company on the shelf. The color itself shifts noticeably across the day, moving from a cooler blue-green tone in morning light to a considerably deeper jade by evening as the light angle changes. That range is rare in a single glaze batch, and it's part of why the dye ran out so quickly during the original mixing session. The studio genuinely keeps meaning to mix more of this exact teal. It has not happened yet, and there's no confirmed timeline for when it might. Whether that timeline ever changes remains genuinely uncertain within the studio.

Flower Green ceramic wall flower styled on wall — Classic Collection — Chive Studio Toronto

Part of the Classic Collection

The Classic collection never bothered chasing whatever trend was passing through — a rose that looked correct in 1974 and will look correct in 2074, glazed in colors that refuse to change. Every piece trades novelty for something worth keeping. This teal was mixed so precisely that the original dye batch ran out entirely after just one flower, leaving this piece with no sibling in any size.

Two Ways to Display

Every Chive ceramic flower works two ways: mounted vertically as a growing gallery wall, or laid flat as a no-water tablescape. This teal shifts from cooler blue-green in the morning to a deeper jade by evening, and that range shows up whether the piece is mounted or laid flat nearby. Interior designers sourcing a distinctive color story tend to request a second placement option once they see both settings in person. Shop the full Classic Collection.

Complete the Look

A color this considered deserves a companion piece that won't compete with it, and the Joe Large Metal Pot in forest gold offers exactly that kind of grounded, earthy contrast for a nearby surface. Its warm tone plays well against the teal's cooler range. Pair the two for a display that feels intentional. The pairing works because neither piece tries to outshine the other in the same space.

The First Color in This Line

The dye batch for this exact teal ran out after a single medium-sized flower, which is why it has no "Large" or "Small" sibling anywhere in the lineup. Chive Ceramics Studio since 2004 and honest about limits has accepted that some glazes simply can't be recreated on demand, no matter how carefully the original formula gets documented afterward. The color shifts from blue-green in morning light to a deeper jade by evening, a range rare enough that it's part of why the dye disappeared so quickly. The studio keeps meaning to mix more of it. That still hasn't happened yet at all. Every batch still gets tested with the same rigor regardless of how rare or common the glaze happens to be before it ships out the door.

Frequently asked questions

How does a Ceramic Flower Medium Teal 1 hang on the wall?

The keyhole slot built into the back of the Medium Teal handles mounting with just one fastener, nothing more complicated. There's no wire or bracket involved in the setup at all. The finished result sits close enough to the wall to feel deliberate. A standard picture hook works just as well if a fastener isn't preferred.

Is a Medium Teal good gift for interior designer?

This teal clears that bar specifically because of how rare and considered the color itself is. It shifts visibly across the day, which is the kind of detail a trained eye notices right away. Few gifts for a design professional carry that level of built-in interest. The color alone does more to justify the price than shape or size ever could.

Does a Medium Teal work as classic home decor?

Yes, a color this considered ages well regardless of shifting design trends around it, which is exactly what classic decor calls for. It doesn't chase a seasonal palette, it simply exists as one of the more interesting teals available in ceramic form. A piece this considered earns its spot on a wall the same way good furniture does.

Does a Medium Teal 1 work as teal wall decor?

Yes, teal wall decor benefits from a shade with genuine depth rather than a flat, single-note color, and this piece delivers exactly that kind of range across a single day of natural light. Morning and evening versions of the same piece look meaningfully different from each other. That range alone justifies the extra attention a single teal piece receives.

Does a Ceramic Flower Medium Teal 1 ship in a gift box?

The Medium Teal ships inside Chive's branded packaging, built to keep this rare glaze protected through transit. It's presentable enough to hand over as a gift without any repackaging needed. No further preparation is required once it arrives at its destination, ready to give as-is right out of the box.

What is a good gift for an interior designer?

An interior designer who sources color stories professionally might appreciate owning a shade that's genuinely difficult to find elsewhere, given how little of the original dye batch was ever produced. The Medium Teal has no sibling in a different size, which only reinforces how singular the color actually is. That scarcity alone makes it worth mentioning during a client conversation.

How long does a medium teal 1 last versus a fresh one?

True teal is difficult to find in fresh flowers at all without dye or chemical treatment, and even treated stems fade within days. This ceramic piece solves that permanently, and its depth of color holds exactly as mixed for as long as it's displayed. Nothing about the glaze shifts with age.

Is a Medium Teal 1 truly worth buying, not just decent?

Worth buying, mainly because this exact teal may never be mixed again in the same way, given how little of the original dye batch survived the first test run. Most colors in the studio's lineup can be recreated on demand. This one genuinely might not be, which changes the calculation considerably.
