Peach Pink Solar Carnation

The carnation has been waiting for a better Tuesday.

Regular price $29.65

The carnation has spent decades being underestimated. It shows up at the gas station in cellophane and everyone acts like that is the whole story. It is not the whole story. The Solar Carnation is the cultivar with the most ruffled, densely layered petals in the carnation family, which is the version that shows up with a reservation. In peach pink it is the warmest, most unguarded object in the France Collection. It arrived without the cellophane and has not looked back. 3.50 inches across. One screw. No water.

How to hang & display

Wall hanging

Works on drywall, plaster, or wood panelling. Drive a small screw at a slight upward angle, leaving the head proud of the wall. Slide the keyhole slot on the back over the screw head, adjust to level. Sits flush — no visible hardware.

No stud? No problem. A drywall anchor rated for the weight works fine.

Displaying a collection

Lay everything out on the floor first. Start with your anchor piece, build outward. Keep 2–3 inches between each piece and aim for the centre of the whole arrangement to land around eye level. Use painter's tape on the wall to map positions before committing to any screws.

Table & shelf display: Equally beautiful propped on a shelf, mantle, or side table. Pair with books, candles, or a small pot.

Peach wall decor for bedrooms and living rooms

Peach pink wall decor occupies the warm neutral zone -- warm enough to feel considered, soft enough to work with almost any room palette. The Solar Carnation at 4 inches suits bedrooms, living rooms, and the kind of entryways where the person who lives there has decided that warmth is what they want guests to feel first.

It hangs with one screw in 90 seconds. The France Collection palette means it pairs naturally with the rose and blush pieces in the range -- the Big Ben Peonies, the Elegance Ranunculus -- without matching them exactly. The wall can have depth and warmth at the same time.

The High Museum of Art in Atlanta has been a Chive stockist for several years. Their gift shop buyers have a specific interest in handmade objects with institutional credibility -- we meet both criteria.

The Solar Carnation and the rehabilitation of a misunderstood flower

The carnation's reputation problem is a supply chain issue. The same flower that gets pressed into cellophane and sold under fluorescent lighting is, in its natural form, one of the most structurally interesting flowers in any garden. Solar specifically has a density and layering that rewards closer attention. Peach Pink is the color that makes that attention worthwhile.

The France Collection is where flowers get the palette they deserved the first time. The Solar Carnation in peach pink is the version that exists in French Vogue and the High Museum gift shop rather than the version that is apologizing for being at the checkout counter.

Frequently asked questions

Can you hang a ceramic wall flower without nails using removable strips?

Removable adhesive strips adhere to the wall directly and work on smooth, flat surfaces. Ceramic wall flowers have a hanging loop on the back designed for a screw head -- the adhesive would be attaching to the ceramic surface rather than the wall, which is structurally less reliable. One screw in 90 seconds is the recommended method. The hole is smaller than the ones already in most walls and patches with a dab of spackle in under a minute.

What does a carnation flower mean?

The carnation means love, fascination, and distinction in the language of flowers -- it has been associated with deep affection and admiration across multiple traditions. In Korea, carnations are given on Parents' Day as a gesture of love and gratitude. Pink carnations specifically represent gratitude and a mother's love. Peach carnations carry warmth and appreciation. The Solar Carnation adds the additional layer of something that has earned its color through patience and time, which is a reasonable metaphor for most gifts worth giving.

Is this a good teacher gift?

The Peach Pink Solar Carnation works as a teacher gift for the same reason it works as any gift: it arrives ready to hang, requires no maintenance, and does not have to compete with the seventeen mugs and the gift cards. It is from a studio whose work is in the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, which is a longer endorsement than a five-star review. Whether it is a good teacher gift depends on the teacher. Teachers who have wall space and opinions about what goes on it: yes. Teachers who prefer mugs: see previous answer about mugs.

What is a coworker leaving gift they will actually keep?

A coworker leaving gift they will actually keep needs to be specific enough to feel like a decision was made -- not a gift card, not a candle, not something that will live in a box. The Peach Pink Solar Carnation arrives in a Chive gift box, hangs in 90 seconds, and stays on the wall without requiring anything from the person who received it. It is from a studio with a 25-year history. The High Museum of Art in Atlanta carries the work. It is the kind of leaving gift that still makes sense five years later.

What room suits peach pink wall art?

Peach pink wall art suits bedrooms, living rooms, and dining rooms where warmth is the design priority. Peach pink sits in the warm neutral territory between pink and orange -- specific enough to read as a choice, soft enough to work alongside most other colors. The Solar Carnation is 4 inches, which suits individual walls or as part of a larger France Collection arrangement where the peach tones anchor the warmer end of the palette.

Why is this carnation called Solar?

Solar refers to the carnation variety rather than a color treatment -- it is a cultivar known for its dense, fully-packed petals and the way it holds its shape over time. The name implies something about its relationship to light and warmth, which Chive found appropriate for a flower that exists in ceramic form and has no relationship to either. The peach pink color amplifies the warmth the name suggests. The carnation accepted all of this without complaint.

Does it come in a gift box?

Every Chive piece ships in a gift box included with the order at no additional cost. The box is clean and minimal, designed to arrive looking like a gift. If you are sending directly to the recipient, the gift box is already part of what they receive -- no re-wrapping required or available.

What makes the France Collection different?

The France Collection is Chive Studio's most distinctly European palette -- peach, rose, blush, champagne, robin's egg blue, and milk teal, drawn from the flowers associated with French gardens and French interiors. It was featured in French Vogue. Every piece is made by hand without the use of molds, which means no two are identical. The Solar Carnation is the France Collection's answer to the flower that everyone knows from the wrong context.
