Build Your Floral Wall With These:

Designed to cluster naturally, like a wild garden. Choose a flower as your design anchor, then grow your custom floral wall with these companions:

Aster flower meaning is bound up with patience, a flower that blooms longer than nearly any other and refuses to be rushed into an early finish by anyone. In Japan, the changing of seasons isn't a weather note; it's treated as an event worth stopping for, and the Frikartii Aster found a place where nobody asked it to hurry along. Seasonal Blue captures exactly that unhurried quality, cooler and more contemplative than a typical aster purple ever manages. A going away gift benefits from a flower that doesn't wilt on the way out the door or during a cross-country move. At 3.7 inches diameter, this piece keeps its color and shape indefinitely, with nothing to replant at the other end. Norfolk Botanical Garden has cultivated long-blooming perennials for generations, the same patience this aster was built to represent. It has been here ever since, and it isn't going anywhere now either.

How to hang & display

Wall hanging

Works on drywall, plaster, or wood panelling. Drive a small screw at a slight upward angle, leaving the head proud of the wall. Slide the keyhole slot on the back over the screw head, adjust to level. Sits flush — no visible hardware.

No stud? No problem. A drywall anchor rated for the weight works fine.

Displaying a collection

Lay everything out on the floor first. Start with your anchor piece, build outward. Keep 2–3 inches between each piece and aim for the centre of the whole arrangement to land around eye level. Use painter's tape on the wall to map positions before committing to any screws.

Table & shelf display: Equally beautiful propped on a shelf, mantle, or side table. Pair with books, candles, or a small pot.

In No Hurry

The changing of seasons is not treated as a weather observation, exactly. It gets treated closer to an event -- a reason to actually stop and notice what is happening outside a window before it stops happening entirely. The Frikartii Aster fits into that philosophy better than most flowers manage to, since it blooms longer than almost any other aster and has never once seemed interested in being rushed toward an ending. Seasonal Blue captures that same unhurried quality, a cooler and more contemplative shade than the usual aster purple people expect on sight. I think there is something worth learning from a flower that refuses to hurry its own conclusion, honestly, in a culture that mostly rewards the opposite instinct at every turn. This piece holds that same patient blue for good, with no color left to fade or rush toward an early finish the way a cut aster eventually does regardless of how carefully it is kept in water. It arrived somewhere that was not asking it to hurry, and it settled in without complaint. That has apparently been enough. It has been here ever since, unbothered by the changing of anything around it, seasonal or otherwise, hurried or not.

Part of the Japan Collection

The Japan collection learned its patience from rooms built around one object instead of a crowded shelf — an off-center bloom, an asymmetrical bract, a glaze left looking unfinished. Every piece trades abundance for one flower a room needs. Seasonal Blue rewards a flower that refuses to rush its own bloom cycle, patient rather than showy about the long process involved. A smaller-scale piece in the same caramel glaze completes the set.

Two Ways to Display

Every Chive ceramic flower works two ways: mounted vertically as a growing gallery wall, or laid flat as a no-water tablescape. The Seasonal Blue Frikartii Aster can anchor a small wall through its patient, unhurried color alone, no additional pieces required to make the point land. As a tabletop object instead, it travels well through any move or long-distance relocation, holding its exact shade permanently regardless of how many boxes eventually get packed around it. Complete the Look

A patient, unhurried aster pairs surprisingly well against something with a bit more personality nearby, rather than another quiet piece competing for the same understated attention. The Funky Monkey Planter brings exactly that contrast in shape without clashing in color, holding an actual plant securely for whatever comes along on the next move or relocation. One piece stays exactly as given. The other one grows into its space over time. Shop the Funky Monkey Planter.

About Chive Ceramics Studio

Permanent flowers require a specific, slightly obsessive kind of expertise, and building that expertise has been the entire focus since the workshop first opened in 2004. Every piece passes through a long stretch of glaze testing before it earns a permanent spot in the catalog, with plenty of failed attempts along the way that never make it past the studio door at all. Imitating a real flower exactly was never really the plan, mostly because real flowers come pre-loaded with an expiration date nobody found worth replicating on purpose. The better plan kept whichever detail made the original worth noticing, permanently, minus the watering schedule that usually comes attached to it.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Seasonal Blue Frikartii Aster hang on the wall?

The Seasonal Blue Frikartii Aster mounts flat against a wall using a single nail through its reinforced back mount, with no wire or frame required. It hangs the way a piece of art would rather than needing a vase or shelf for display. Once mounted, it holds its position permanently with no re-leveling or adjustment needed later.

What does a aster flower mean as a gift?

An aster traditionally symbolizes patience, love, and daintiness, a fitting meaning for a flower that blooms longer than most others in its family without ever seeming rushed toward its own ending. As a gift, that symbolism carries genuine weight rather than serving as a purely decorative choice. The Seasonal Blue Frikartii Aster keeps that meaning intact permanently.

Is a ceramic aster a good going away gift?

Yes -- a ceramic aster makes a fitting going away gift because the flower's traditional symbolism of patience and enduring affection translates well to someone about to be at a distance. The Seasonal Blue Frikartii Aster also skips the practical problem of a fresh bouquet wilting during a move or a long trip shortly after being given.

Does a aster work as japandi wall art?

A ceramic aster works well as japandi wall art because the aesthetic favors muted, contemplative color paired with an organic bloom shape rather than anything bright or symmetrical. Seasonal Blue delivers exactly that restrained quality, cooler and quieter than a typical aster purple. Hung with some open space around it, the piece fits the japandi philosophy directly.

Does the Seasonal Blue Frikartii Aster ship in a gift box?

The Seasonal Blue Frikartii Aster ships in branded, gift-ready packaging built to be handed over directly, without needing extra wrapping added at the last minute before a goodbye. It arrives looking deliberately prepared rather than picked up in a hurry. That detail tends to matter more than people expect once the gift is actually in hand.

What is a good ceramic aster gift for someone?

A ceramic aster makes a thoughtful gift for someone going through a transition, since the flower's traditional meaning of patience suits almost any life change without needing further explanation. The Seasonal Blue Frikartii Aster requires no care once given, which matters especially for someone about to be busy, distracted, or simply somewhere else entirely.

Does a Blue Frikartii ceramic aster outlast a fresh one?

A Blue Frikartii ceramic aster outlasts a fresh-cut aster by a wide margin -- fresh asters typically last one to two weeks in water before declining, while this ceramic version holds its exact color and bloom shape indefinitely with zero maintenance. There is no vase to pack for a move and nothing left behind to wilt.

Is a ceramic aster a good gift for someone?

A ceramic aster makes a good gift for someone in transition because it carries real symbolic meaning around patience while requiring absolutely nothing in return once it is given. The Seasonal Blue Frikartii Aster travels well, needs no water, and holds its shape indefinitely regardless of where it eventually ends up hanging next.
