Congrats, who’s the Daddy? - Greeting Card

Every milestone in American life has been assigned a mascot, and none of them were consulted. Graduates get the owl in the mortarboard, hooting about how wise they've become, eighty thousand dollars later. New parents get the stork, a bird legally incapable of delivering anything. Retirees get the sailboat, drifting toward a horizon labeled "freedom" in a font last seen on a funeral program. The greeting card industry congratulates people the way a form letter does: sincerely, and about nothing. We made these cards because milestones deserve honesty. The diploma is expensive. The baby is loud and will remain loud. Retirement is recess with a pension, and everyone at the office knows exactly which meetings you will not miss. Saying so out loud is not cynicism — it's the whole reason the party is fun. So each card here leads with the true thing, letterpressed into cardstock with actual weight, foil-stamped like an award, and blank inside for the part only you can write: the memory, the debt figure, the cash. Congratulations should sound like someone who was paying attention. The owl was not paying attention. The owl has never once attended a graduation. You have, and it shows.

Chive Studio has been marking occasions since 2004, and our position on milestones hasn't moved: celebrate the person, tell the truth about the event. Every congratulations card here is designed in-house, set in metal type, pressed into heavyweight cardstock, and foil-stamped — a production process considerably more ceremonial than most of the ceremonies it attends. The blank inside is deliberate. Graduations, babies, retirements, and escapes from bad jobs all deserve words chosen by someone who was actually there, and that someone is you. We just make sure the card looks important enough to survive the fridge door for a decade.
