The Story Behind This Ornament

My cousin Priya has read the space news every single week since she was maybe nine, first from a library subscription her mother did not fully understand the appeal of, and now from four different sites she checks before coffee. She has three on order already, one for her desk and two she has not told anyone the destination for yet.

About Chive Studio

Glass does not hide a flaw the way a busy printed pattern can, which is either a limitation or the entire point depending on who at the studio you ask on a given day. Since 2004, Chive has worked almost exclusively in materials that show their seams rather than disguise them, on the theory that a customer holding something up to the light deserves to see exactly what they are holding. A rocket ornament is a particularly unforgiving shape for this approach, tall and narrow with nowhere for an uneven paint pass to hide. The studio built the mold anyway, on purpose, because a shape that forces honesty out of the material is usually worth the extra rejected units it takes to get right the first time.
