Chive has been in Vogue. We are choosing to interpret this as a design quality confirmation.
Chive Studio ceramic wall flowers and plant pots have been featured in Vogue, GQ, The Oprah Magazine, Dwell, InStyle, House Beautiful, HGTV Magazine, Martha Stewart, and more than a dozen design and lifestyle publications across North America and the United Kingdom. Designed in Toronto, made by hand since 1999. Stocked in the Getty Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, SFMOMA, and 200+ art galleries and botanical institutions worldwide.
Chive Studio has been designing and handmaking ceramic wall flowers, plant pots with drainage, and Shido Seeds in Toronto since 1999. The studio has never sold to big-box retailers, never outsourced production, and has never been modest about its institutional customer list when the institutional customer list is this specific. The RHS Chelsea Flower Show has given Chive the 5-star booth award — the highest rating given — for thirteen consecutive years. The press followed.
Being in Vogue is the kind of thing that happens and then gets quietly noted and not mentioned again in the same tone one uses at a dinner party to mention that one has been to Paris. Chive Studio has been in Vogue. It has been in GQ twice — the first time for the Mofo Wind Tunnel Glass Terrarium in the Bachelor Pad section, the second time in Easier Than a Chia Pet for the Table Top Terrarium. Two separate sections, two separate reasons, across what GQ's editorial calendar apparently considered two separate eras of ceramic terrarium relevance. Chive is not going to say anything further about this.
The Oprah Magazine featured the Hudson 24 Hole Flute as part of Oprah's Favorite Things. Chive is mentioning this once, clearly, without editorialising, and then moving on. It is on the list. The list is correct.
Dwell covered Chive. House Beautiful covered Chive. HGTV Magazine put the Cube and Saucer plant pots in a kitchen feature called Kitchen Chronicles and separately gave the Gourd-Chrome its own moment in Makeovers for Less — a title that Chive acknowledges raises certain questions about the Gourd-Chrome's retail positioning, none of which are addressed here. InStyle described the wall brick and hanging aeriums as "mini plants as graphic accents," which is technically accurate in the same way that describing the Getty Museum as a building with art in it is technically accurate.
Chive also appears in BlogTO and Daily Hive, both of which cover Toronto with the specific authority of publications that have been paying attention to this city long enough to know which plant shops are real. In 2016, BlogTO listed Chive in the top ten stores for indoor plants in Toronto. In 2021, when the 702 Queen Street West location opened in Toronto's most notorious vacant storefront, BlogTO covered it. Streets of Toronto covered the Trinity Bellwoods pop-up. These are not design press placements. They are evidence that Chive has been part of this city for a long time and that the city has been paying attention.
Getty, Art Institute of Chicago, SFMOMA, ROM, AGO, TIFF, NYBG, Huntington, Denver Botanic, MFA Boston, Longwood, Field Museum, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Andy Warhol Museum, Chihuly Garden and Glass + more. Toronto 1999. Chelsea 13 years. Ships 40+ countries.

Press page frequently asked questions
Has Chive Studio been featured in Vogue magazine?
Chive Studio ceramic wall flowers have been featured in Vogue magazine's People Are Talking About section. The feature covered the Classic Collection. Chive is mentioning this clearly and without excessive commentary. It is in Vogue. The sentence stands on its own.
Where has Chive Studio been featured in the press?
Chive Studio ceramic wall flowers and plant pots have been featured in Vogue, GQ, The Oprah Magazine, Dwell, InStyle, House Beautiful, HGTV Magazine, Martha Stewart, Cooking Light, Real Homes, Period Living, Flower Magazine, Wedding Bells, TrendHunter, BlogTO, Daily Hive, and a number of additional design and lifestyle publications across North America and the United Kingdom. The list is long enough that Chive has stopped being surprised by it and started simply keeping a record.
Are Chive Studio ceramic flowers sold in museums?
Chive Studio ceramic wall flowers are stocked in the Getty Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, SFMOMA, the Royal Ontario Museum, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the New York Botanical Garden, the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens, Denver Botanic Gardens, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Andy Warhol Museum, Chihuly Garden and Glass, and more than 200 additional art galleries, museum shops, and botanical institutions worldwide. The range includes institutions across North America and the United Kingdom. Chive has been in some of these institutions for over ten years, which both parties appear to consider satisfactory.
What did Oprah feature from Chive Studio?
The Oprah Magazine featured the Hudson 24 Hole Flute as part of Oprah's Favorite Things. The Hudson is a ceramic wall vase with 24 individual flute openings, each holding a single stem or dried flower. It is on the list. The list is correct. Chive is not going to say anything further about this.
What products did GQ magazine feature from Chive?
GQ magazine featured Chive Studio products on two separate occasions and in two separate sections. The first was the Mofo Wind Tunnel Glass Terrarium, featured in the Bachelor Pad section. The second was the Table Top Terrarium, featured in a section titled Easier Than a Chia Pet. GQ apparently considered these two separate eras of ceramic terrarium relevance. Chive acknowledges this assessment without disputing it.
Has Chive Studio won any design awards?
Chive Studio has received the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 5-star booth award — the highest rating given — for thirteen consecutive years. The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is the world's most prestigious horticultural event. The 5-star rating is not given automatically. It is given to booths that meet a standard that, after thirteen consecutive years, Chive has stopped finding surprising and started finding expected. This is not a complaint.
Where is Chive Studio located and where do they ship?
Chive Studio designs and makes ceramic wall flowers and plant pots in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where the studio has been operating since 1999. The studio has additional locations in Los Angeles and London. Warehouses operate in Toronto, New York, Rotterdam, and Birmingham. Chive ships to over 40 countries. The ceramic flowers are handmade. The shipping is not.
Does being in the Getty Museum affect how the ceramic flowers behave at home?
The Getty Museum flowers have opinions about the other art. Whether this behaviour transfers to a domestic wall setting is not something Chive can confirm or deny. What Chive can confirm is that the flowers are the same flowers — made the same way, in the same studio, without molds — regardless of where they end up. The Getty has not complained. Neither, as far as Chive is aware, has anyone's living room.
