Build Your Floral Wall With These:

Designed to cluster naturally, like a wild garden. Choose a flower as your design anchor, then grow your custom floral wall with these companions:

Dining room wall decor has a proportionality problem — most of what gets sold is too cautious for a room that exists, specifically, to make gatherings feel like something worth attending. The pompom mum form is dense — hundreds of folded petals radiating from a compact center — and the jungle green glaze makes it read as a botanical statement rather than a seasonal placeholder. At full size, this bloom occupies a wall with the confidence of a botanical illustration rather than the tentativeness of something that knows it's temporary. No water, no maintenance, no seasonal rotation — it contributes to the dining room year-round in the way furniture does, not the way cut flowers do. Artisans shape these pieces by hand at Chive Ceramics Studio, and the jungle green deepens at the center where petals compress most tightly. The Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, Connecticut carries Chive ceramic wall flowers in its gift shop.

How to hang & display

Wall hanging

Works on drywall, plaster, or wood panelling. Drive a small screw at a slight upward angle, leaving the head proud of the wall. Slide the keyhole slot on the back over the screw head, adjust to level. Sits flush — no visible hardware.

No stud? No problem. A drywall anchor rated for the weight works fine.

Displaying a collection

Lay everything out on the floor first. Start with your anchor piece, build outward. Keep 2–3 inches between each piece and aim for the centre of the whole arrangement to land around eye level. Use painter's tape on the wall to map positions before committing to any screws.

Table & shelf display: Equally beautiful propped on a shelf, mantle, or side table. Pair with books, candles, or a small pot.

The Same Sphere, a Darker Green

The pompom mum from the football game found the jungle and did not come back. She is still in there making pompoms. The ribbon situation is nobody's business, which is the only thing that needs to be said about her specific relationship with restraint and the choices she has made in that department.

Jungle green is the color she chose, which is exactly right — pompom green is a cheerful, synthetic green, the color of something that was manufactured in a factory that produces exclusively cheerful things. Jungle green is different. Jungle green has been somewhere. Jungle green has sat in a canopy long enough to become a decision rather than a default, and the pompom mum in this particular color is the result of those two things meeting each other in a ceramic studio and finding, to everyone's surprise, that they had always been pointing at the same destination.

The form is hundreds of petals radiating from a compressed center, none of which would individually read as impressive, all of which add up to a bloom that makes a statement at whatever volume the room requires. Artisans shape each one by hand at Chive Ceramics Studio. The ribbon situation is still nobody's business.

Part of the English Garden Collection

The English Garden collection borrows its chaos from cottage beds never pruned into submission — rambling roses, over-full peonies, zinnias that stayed uninvited. Every piece trades one fussy bloom for an overgrown afternoon. The Jungle Green Pompom Mum achieves the same dense, perfect sphere as its yellow-green cousin, jungle green reading darker at every distance. That same dense sphere shows up again in a different green.

Two Ways to Display

Every Chive ceramic flower works two ways: mounted vertically as part of a gallery wall that grows one piece at a time, or laid flat across an entryway console or shelf as a tablescape that never needs the water changed. The keyhole on the back handles the wall version; the base handles the surface version. Most people start with one flower and end up needing both configurations before they admit it.

Complete the Look

The Joe pot in silver does something the ceramic pots in this catalog generally don't, which is to arrive with an industrial confidence that makes jungle green look considered rather than aggressive. The Joe is a large format metal pot with a drainage hole, sized for a serious root system, and the silver finish is the specific neutral that makes a saturated wall piece read as intentional from across the room. Jungle green on the wall. Joe on the shelf.

Density That Reads Differently at Every Distance

Density is the problem that takes longest to solve in ceramic flower-making. The pompom mum form requires more individual petal elements than any other bloom in the Chive catalog — the compressed center has to hold its shape through the full building process without collapsing under the weight of the outer petals being added around it. Getting that architecture right took the studio years of iteration after it was founded in 2004.

Jungle green was developed as part of the studio's deep-color line — glazes that read as saturated without looking painted on, which requires a layering technique applied before and after firing. The density of the pompom mum means hand-shaping time is roughly double that of a standard bloom at the studio. Worth every minute of it.

Frequently asked questions

Do ceramic wall flowers need command strips for pompom mums?

The Jungle Green Pompom Mum hangs with a single standard screw in drywall — no command strips, no adhesives, no supplemental hardware required. The keyhole slot on the back fits a standard picture-hanging screw and installation takes approximately ninety seconds once the screw is placed. Command strips work as an alternative on non-drilling walls. Ships with an installation guide card.

What is a dining room decor piece with botanical charm?

Dining room wall decor with botanical character is the category that separates pieces that look like they came with the room from pieces that announce they were purchased — the Jungle Green Pompom Mum falls firmly into the first group. The form is dense enough to read as a botanical illustration at a distance and specific enough to reward a closer look. No season. No maintenance.

Is a Jungle Pompom Mum a good gift for gardeners?

A gift for gardeners that arrives in a form they recognize is more considered than one that arrives in a form they could have bought anywhere — mums are a gardener's October project, and the Jungle Green Pompom Mum is the version of that project that holds its form all year, including the months when the garden does not. Ships gift-ready. No soil required after delivery.

Does a Jungle Pompom Mum work as dining room decor?

Dining room wall decor works best at a scale that reads across the table rather than from directly in front of it, and the pompom mum form achieves this — hundreds of petals radiating from a compressed center at a size that contributes to the room without requiring the room to rearrange itself. Jungle green holds its depth under dining room light. No seasonal rotation required.

Does a Jungle Pompom Mum arrive gift-wrapped and ready to give?

The Jungle Green Pompom Mum ships in protective gift-ready packaging — no vase, no arrangement, no wrapping required on either end. It arrives looking like the effort was made weeks in advance, which is the standard a gift for a gardener should meet, since gardeners are people who put effort in and notice when others don't. Nothing required from the recipient after delivery.

What is a gift for gardeners who grow mums each fall?

A gift for gardeners who grow mums is most meaningful when it references their specific practice — the pompom variety is the one they spend October deadheading and dividing, the form they know well enough to recognize at a glance. The ceramic version holds the exact bloom that October only gives them for a week, available every month of the year. Already gift-ready. Holds indefinitely.

How long does a Jungle Pompom Mum last versus a fresh mum?

A Jungle Green Pompom Mum in ceramic lasts indefinitely — no soil, no October timeline, no cycle of planting and removing. A fresh pompom mum gives approximately one to two weeks in a vase before the outer petals begin releasing, which is a short return on an elaborate autumn investment. The ceramic version holds every petal exactly as shaped. No deadheading required.

Is a ceramic mum a good housewarming gift for gardeners?

A ceramic mum as a housewarming gift for a gardener is a gift that says something specific — the form they grow each fall, in a material that holds it year-round, in a color that suggests the jungle rather than the grocery store parking lot. Ships protected. Arrives ready. Nothing required from the recipient after delivery. Stays on the wall as long as they keep it.
