Jungle Green Pompom Mum

It went in jungle green and came back changed.

Regular price $37.15

The Jungle Green Pompom Mum is a sphere of such complete, dense, deeply saturated greenness that it looks less like a flower and more like a flower that has been swallowed by a forest and come back changed, wearing its experience as a color. It is the most unexpectedly dramatic thing named after a cheerleading accessory that has ever existed. We made it ceramic. The forest has made its position permanent.

How to hang & display

Wall hanging

Works on drywall, plaster, or wood panelling. Drive a small screw at a slight upward angle, leaving the head proud of the wall. Slide the keyhole slot on the back over the screw head, adjust to level. Sits flush — no visible hardware.

No stud? No problem. A drywall anchor rated for the weight works fine.

Displaying a collection

Lay everything out on the floor first. Start with your anchor piece, build outward. Keep 2–3 inches between each piece and aim for the centre of the whole arrangement to land around eye level. Use painter's tape on the wall to map positions before committing to any screws.

Table & shelf display: Equally beautiful propped on a shelf, mantle, or side table. Pair with books, candles, or a small pot.

The Forest's Position on Spheres

The Jungle Green Pompom Mum is a sphere of such complete, dense, deeply saturated greenness that it looks less like a flower and more like a flower that has been swallowed by a forest and come back changed, wearing its experience as a color.

This is the thing about jungle green on a pompom mum: it is the most unexpectedly dramatic thing named after a cheerleading accessory that has ever existed. We made it ceramic. The forest has made its position permanent. The cheerleading accessory association remains but carries more weight now.

Rustic wall decor that came back from the forest changed

Rustic wall decor works when the objects in a room feel like they came from somewhere with texture and history — wood, stone, things that carry the evidence of where they have been. The Jungle Green Pompom Mum carries this evidence as a color. It is the green of a forest that has been making its own decisions for a long time, in the dense sphere form of a flower that takes up exactly the space it intends to take up.

It works alongside reclaimed wood, natural stone, woven baskets, dried botanicals, and the other material-rich objects of a rustic interior. It does not look like it was manufactured. It looks like it arrived from somewhere specific with a position already formed. We made it ceramic. The forest's position is now permanent on your wall.

How to Hang Ceramic Flowers?

In 60 seconds or less

One discovers these flowers, each bearing a secret: a tiny keyhole nestled in the back, waiting for its destiny. The ritual feels almost predetermined - reaching into that dusty jar of orphaned screws, the ones squirreled away over countless home projects. Those odd bits of metal, collected like precious coins, finally finding their purpose. A quick twist of the drill, and there hangs beauty, supported by hardware whose previous life remains a mystery.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to hang a ceramic flower on the wall?

About ninety seconds. The jungle green pompom mum has a keyhole mount on the back — you put a screw in the wall, hang the keyhole over it, and you are done. No drill required for most walls. No bracket, no frame, no level required if your eye is reasonably reliable. The flower hangs flat against the wall and stays there. We have been building them this way since 1999 and the system has never needed an update, which is the highest possible endorsement of a hanging system.

What does a chrysanthemum flower mean?

The chrysanthemum means longevity, joy, and the persistent beauty of something that has been cultivated with care over a long period. In Japanese culture it is among the most significant flowers — a symbol associated with the imperial family and with the specific quality of endurance that produces refinement over time. In the English garden it has come to mean the dependable flower, the one that is still performing when the rest of the garden has finished. The Jungle Green Pompom Mum adds to this a color that is not about endurance but about depth — the deep green of something that has been growing in the forest long enough to take on the forest's color as its own.

What is a thoughtful wedding gift for a couple with good taste?

The Jungle Green Pompom Mum is a wedding gift for a couple who owns a wall and has opinions about what is on it. It is handmade ceramic from a studio that has been making things since 1999. It is in the collection of the Denver Botanic Gardens. It ships gift-ready. A ceramic pompom mum in jungle green is not a gift that was selected from a registry. It is a gift that was selected by someone who was paying attention to the people receiving it. That distinction is apparent when they open it, and it is apparent every time they look at the wall it ends up on.

What is a plant lover gift ideas for someone who has plants?

The Jungle Green Pompom Mum is the plant lover gift for the plant lover who already has the plants. It is ceramic — it does not compete with the plants, does not require the same conditions, does not have needs. It is also, in jungle green, the color of the room they have already created with everything that is growing in it. On a wall above or among the plants, it is the thing that completes the room rather than adding to it. It is in the collection of the Denver Botanic Gardens, which is a credential a plant lover will recognize. It ships gift-ready. It is exactly the right color.

What wall decor works in a mudroom?

The mudroom is the room that gets the most traffic and the least consideration. The Jungle Green Pompom Mum is suited to a mudroom because the color — deep, saturated, forest green — is not delicate and is not going to look wrong next to boots and coats and whatever else the mudroom contains. The spherical form is resolved enough to hold its own in a high-activity space. It hangs on one screw, requires no maintenance, and does not need to be moved or cleaned or treated with any particular care. It is ceramic. It exists. It improves the mudroom. That is sufficient.

What ceramic wall art suits rustic wall decor?

Rustic decor rewards natural forms, warm or deep colors, and objects with a material character that reads as handmade and specific. The Jungle Green Pompom Mum is handmade ceramic from a studio operating since 1999, in a color that belongs to every forest and every wall next to a forest. The deep green in a warm wood-toned rustic interior is the botanical element that completes the palette. The sphere form is both organic and resolved — a natural object that also looks considered. In a rustic room with natural textures and warm tones, jungle green ceramic is not an unusual choice. It is the obvious one, once you have seen it.

Does it come in a gift box?

The Jungle Green Pompom Mum ships in Chive packaging — a box sized for the flower, tissue included, ready to give. No additional wrapping required. The packaging is designed to arrive looking like a gift, which is the complete description of what packaging should do. The jungle green sphere inside is the reason for the gift. The box is the box.

Has a forest ever claimed credit for a flower's color?

The forest has not filed any documentation on this, and we are not aware of a process by which it would. We have chosen to frame the Jungle Green Pompom Mum as the forest's unilateral decision about the pompom mum's color, made without the mum's knowledge or input, and the mum has not contested this framing. We find the whole situation to be in good order.
