Build Your Floral Wall With These:

Designed to cluster naturally, like a wild garden. Choose a flower as your design anchor, then grow your custom floral wall with these companions:

Boho wall art covers a wide range, and this one earned its place in that category by actually meaning it. The Yellow Green Pompom Mum is a ceramic wall flower — handmade by Chive, built from the mum variety that exists at a particular intersection of exuberance and restraint: fully round, yellow-green, a color that was ahead of itself before the design world caught up. There is a woman at every high school football game who has been making pompoms since 1987 and has no intention of stopping, and she would like it noted that she was doing yellow-green before it was a color anyone respected. The pompom mum is named for its form: densely packed petals arranged into a perfect globe, every one of them aware of its placement. It hangs on any wall. No water. No maintenance. It ships in a gift box, ready to give immediately. The Yellow Green Pompom Mum is carried by the Ansel Adams Gallery.

How to hang & display

Wall hanging

Works on drywall, plaster, or wood panelling. Drive a small screw at a slight upward angle, leaving the head proud of the wall. Slide the keyhole slot on the back over the screw head, adjust to level. Sits flush — no visible hardware.

No stud? No problem. A drywall anchor rated for the weight works fine.

Displaying a collection

Lay everything out on the floor first. Start with your anchor piece, build outward. Keep 2–3 inches between each piece and aim for the centre of the whole arrangement to land around eye level. Use painter's tape on the wall to map positions before committing to any screws.

Table & shelf display: Equally beautiful propped on a shelf, mantle, or side table. Pair with books, candles, or a small pot.

A Perfect Sphere, Eventually

We made the Yellow Green Pompom Mum because of a woman we know who has been making pompoms since 1987 and has no intention of stopping.

She knows where the good ribbon is. She has opinions about glitter that would surprise you. She was doing yellow-green before it was a color anyone respected, and she did not need the design world to catch up to her in order to feel right about it. She was already right. The design world eventually figured this out, as the design world does when given sufficient time and enough people with opinions about glitter to point it in the right direction.

The pompom mum is named for its form: densely packed petals in a perfect sphere, every one of them aware of its placement. The yellow-green variety is that form in a color that takes confidence to choose and makes every neighboring color sharper by being near it. It is the color of things that know where they stand.

Chive Ceramics Studio started in 2004 with a small number of varieties and a large number of opinions about color. The opinions have been consistent. The Yellow Green Pompom Mum was made for rooms not afraid of yellow-green and for the person who has been right about it since before it was obvious.

Part of the English Garden Collection

The English Garden collection borrows its chaos from cottage beds never pruned into submission — rambling roses, over-full peonies, zinnias that stayed uninvited. Every piece trades one fussy bloom for an overgrown afternoon. The Yellow Green Pompom Mum achieves a near-perfect sphere from densely packed petals, deliberate in a color the design world caught onto late. A cooler-toned ranunculus nearby picks up a related shade.

Two Ways to Display

Every Chive ceramic flower works two ways: mounted vertically as part of a gallery wall that grows one piece at a time, or laid flat across an entryway console or shelf as a tablescape that never needs the water changed. The keyhole on the back handles the wall version; the base handles the surface version. Most people start with one flower and end up needing both configurations before they admit it.

Complete the Look

The wall flower brings the yellow-green. The Minute Ceramic Pot, 5-inch, Blue Green continues the conversation at the surface level: the same family of color, carried down from the wall to the surface below it, at a scale that says considered rather than matched. A room thinking about yellow-green on two levels has made a decision, and the decision is correct.

The Color the Design World Caught Onto Late

Chive Ceramics Studio began making ceramic wall flowers in 2004 with a belief that color should be chosen rather than defaulted to, that the colors considered difficult in one decade are frequently considered essential in the next, and that the gap between those two assessments is filled primarily by people who were already right.

Yellow-green is a color we chose before the consensus arrived. We stand by this.

Every piece in our catalog starts with a live plant. The form is studied. The glaze is selected. The piece is made by hand. Some go to walls where they immediately look like they were always supposed to be there. The Yellow Green Pompom Mum is one of those pieces, though not every wall knows it yet.

Frequently asked questions

How does a Yellow Green Pompom Mum hang on the wall?

Boho wall art that weighs under two pounds and hangs on a standard picture hook is the kind that does not require a Saturday. The Yellow Green Pompom Mum hangs on any wall that accepts a picture hook or a single screw. No anchors, no drilling, no special hardware. One hook and it knows where it belongs.

What is boho wall art for an eclectic, layered room?

Boho wall art for an eclectic room means the piece has something to say and says it without apologizing to the other things on the wall. The Yellow Green Pompom Mum is a ceramic wall flower — handmade, permanently yellow-green, shaped into a perfect sphere. It has an opinion about the room and keeps it without commentary.

Is a Yellow Green Pompom Mum good office wall decor?

Boho wall art in an office: the piece that makes the office look chosen rather than assembled from a catalog. The Yellow Green Pompom Mum is permanent, requires nothing after hanging, and occupies the wall with the quality of yellow-green — forward, deliberate, the color of someone who decided before the trend confirmed the decision.

Does a Yellow Pompom Mum work as creative office decor?

Boho wall art for a creative office does a specific job: it signals that the person who works here has a perspective. The Yellow Green Pompom Mum does that job without effort and without maintenance after the first screw goes in. On the office wall in three years looking exactly as decided as the day it went up.

Does a Yellow Pompom Mum arrive gift-wrapped and ready to give?

Boho wall art that ships in a gift box is rarer than it should be. The Yellow Green Pompom Mum arrives in a Chive gift box with hanging hardware included, ready to give without additional wrapping. For a housewarming, a birthday, or a friend looking for something for the wall above the desk, it is already done.

What is a gift for someone who genuinely has everything?

Boho wall art for someone who has everything has to be something they would not have bought for themselves, because people who have everything have already bought the obvious things. The Yellow Green Pompom Mum is in a color specific enough that it only belongs to certain walls — and the right person sees it and knows immediately which wall that is.

How long does a Pompom Mum last versus a fresh one?

A fresh pompom mum at full bloom lasts approximately two weeks before boho wall art becomes a composting project. The ceramic Yellow Green Pompom Mum holds the form and color in glaze indefinitely. It was yellow-green before the trend confirmed it, and will be yellow-green long after the trend considers itself current.

Is a ceramic mum a good gift for the hard to please?

Boho wall art for the hard to please requires specificity, because the hard to please have already filtered out the generic. The Yellow Green Pompom Mum is in a color that narrows the field immediately. It ships gift-ready. It hangs on one hook. The recipient either responds to yellow-green or they do not, and the ones who do respond strongly.
